A few days ago Rusty (musicplayson) blogged about Autumn Leaves Compact from The Body Shop's new Limited Edition Autumn Trend Collection. She mentioned how much Berry reminded her of M.A.C Petticoat MSF. Since I have an outlet near me and I needed to collect some samples anyway, I went down with Petticoat along with me to do some swatches.

As you can see from the top photo, when swirled together, Petticoat & Berry is very very close. But not quite identical. I'm not good at describing colors at all, so i wont try. but I hope you can see the difference. Berry is more pigmented and not as metallic as Petticoat. However, if you swatch on the raspberrveinings on Petticoat, the shade is very very similar to the darkest shade in Berry. So, it's a close match, but not quite a dupe. Still good to have if you do not want to fork out S$46 for Petticoat.
Chestnut however, is another story. It is such a good dupe for......

....... Cheeky Bronze MSF!! I'm not kidding you! Not sure if you can see in the photos, but they are almost identical! You can hardly tell the difference in real life. The only difference is Chesnut is much more pigmented and much less glittery than Cheeky Bronze. For those who missed out on Cheeky Bronze but really want it, you should totally get Chestnut. It's totally worth it at S$32.90 (only S$29 if you're a LYB member!!). I think it's versatile too because they would make beautiful eyeshadow colors.
So did i get any?
Well, not this time. Cant justify getting something that I already have in my stash. But who knows... if there's a promotion. Because i'm starting to really like Chestnut. :)

Petticoat vs Petticoat
I dont know how many of you noticed, but while sorting out the goodies, I decided to bring out my Petticoat and did a little comparison. I already own Petticoat from the Sheer Minerals (SM) release in 2008. I realised that there is a slight difference between the old Petticoat & the new one. I find that the Petticoat I have is lighter, and the In The Groove (ITG) Petticoat contains more pink glitter making it more pink-er. Looks more frosty too I've included some photos below. Take a look, and let me know what you think!
Note that this comparison is only based on what I see from the packaging. It might or might not swatch differently, I dont know. These are not mine so I am not gonna open them up or do swatches.

So Ramadhan's here, and today is our first day fasting. It's 5.19PM right now, and about 2 hours more to go before we break our fast. Am i hungry? Nope. Am i bored? H*ll Yeahh! Damn sleepy too. So what did i do?
I went to my mom's room to play with her lipsticks, like always whenever i am bored. (i know, i'm still a kid at heart). Before I know it, i start swatching all her MUA Lip Rouge. Yepp, it's ALL hers.

My Thoughts: These lipsticks are really creamy. They go smoothly on the lips. And very pigmented too. They're nice to use. But if you're gonna ask me if I am gonna purchase more, my answer is... nope. unless there is another sale. There is no way I am gonna pay S$24.00 for a 1.40g product.

Some of you may have realised that I posted an entry about Barry M's 25% off Summer Special Offer sometime back. I thought that was awesome and was set to place an order with my sister. But to my dismay, the colors i wanted are ALL out-of-stock. Just not my luck, i thought. I dont know what made me check, but to my surprise they restocked the colors i wanted! Good and Bad news for me.
I am kinda in a dilemma because I set myself a budget, meaning i can only pick 3 out of the 4 shades of nail polish that i've been eyeing on. I'm leaning towards Mushroom & Pink Flamingo, but couldnt decide between the other two.
Now.. if it was you, which 3 colors would you have picked for yourself?
Dont you just hate it when you walk into a store to pick up ONE item, and end up picking up a basket because your hands cannot hold anymore items?
In my case, it was just 3M Nexcare Acne Patch. Love this stuff. Then i saw Heal Pharm's Pore Pack. It's S$1.95, so have to pick it up, right? I was running out of my ACNES one anyway. Check out Anoynomous Bosch's review on Nixoderm. Her review made me wanna try it too. And since I was at Watsons, i kinda need to top-up to S$10.00 to qualify for the points. So that is where the Clean & Clear Oil Control Film comes in. End up spending S$15++ which means 3 points!! hahaa.
The Nude Cotton Pads, i got from John Little sale at Causeway Point. I thought 6 for S$8.00 was a good deal. A little pricier than the one from SASA which i'm currently using. but that one is a little........ berbulu (sorry, lack of a better word! i really dont know how to describe. help?) when you wipe across your face.
Of course, while i was at it, i couldnt help to grab this nail enamel. It was such a lovely shade, even though there was no testers in stores for me to swatch. The swatches online are enough to suck me into buying this. Plus 20% off at John Little, i couldnt resist!
'This' is Revlon's Gray Suede. The shade is a lovely nude on me, and even lovelier to apply. Will post swatches when i wear it out tomorrow, though i am sure it's not necessary.
I really have no idea why I need to justify my purchases here. but i guess it's not really about justifying them.. it's just fun to do! hehee..

So my first MSF is Petticoat, which I got at USD18.75 during the 25% off F&F sale last year. Pretty good deal, huh? Wish I got more MSFs! But I didnt know what and how to use MSFs then. Regretting it abit, but oh well.
And then some time last year the Colour Craft Collection came out, and i got someone from CozyCot to CP Smooth Merge for me as I wasnt able to get it instores. I would never thought I'll fork out FULL retail price for MAC (I was a spree whore back then), but I did. Just for the sake of a MSF.
Cheeky Bronze was next, purchased at the MAC Private Sale sometime in March. This was a damn freaking good deal. CANNOT MISS.
The latest edition is obviously Stereo Rose. OMG. Need i explain this one?!

Finally arrived this week. The Stereo Roses are from Nordstrom. I ordered as soon as the collection is up when the ones at maccosmetics.com went Out of Stock.
None of these are mine though. My Stereo Rose from M∙A∙C was on backorder (but i checked, and it's been shipped! yeayy!). okay, maybe for one.
So i got myself the I.Want.Candy Dazzleglass Creme. I dont know why I got this, but probably because I thought it was unique. But somehow I am a little disappointed. I mean, I thought it would be BRIGHT, almost neon-green like most pictures i saw. Like the one in Temptalia. But what i have in my hand is just a blah sunny yellow. It doesnt even look interesting. Even redberried's I.Want.Candy looks nicer.
Could it be because I placed it on a black background? Could be.
But it's still a boring yellow on my hand to me. oh well.

So i finally got this up.. been procrastinating. I've spent alot this month. and it's bad. Blame it on the sales and temptations on OnSugar. I've totally NO self-control man!! And all of the above started with one innocent purchase...
Yepp, NARS is the culprit. This was purchased way back during the Beauty Ticket Private Sale. I saw Jasmine's tweets, asking if anyone wanted to get anything. I've always thought my first NARS purchase would be a blush. But they wont have any on the sale. They had cream blushers, but in not so exciting shade.
I ordered the Powder Foundation with SPF 12 and PA++ since i ran out of my MAC Studiofix Powder. Not many shades left either. So using Temptalia's foundation matrix as reference, I picked it up in St Tropez. I've only used this once since I collected it from Hudy. I didnt really like it, but I'll give it another go when my skin is better.
Daiso in Bukit Panjang just opened last month, so i had to check it out, right? I didnt include these two in the group shot because i totally forgot. I wanted to show you guys the instructions on the back of the cleansing pad but my scanner wont scan it! It was so funny! The blush came in a few shades, but i picked up the neutral brown shade for days i dont want too much color. As you can see, it's almost the same shade as my skin so obviusly it wont show up on my face. The highlight shade is pretty though. Might end up using this as eyeshadow instead.

This is not beauty related at all, but it is a beautiful thing. I just thought I'd share. I'm sure some of you managed to enjoy the small but very very pretty rainbow. I took about about 16 photos as I watched the raimbow slowly fade away..
I was not gonna do a MAC spree because a few others here on OnSugar already one. But I realised that the Alice + Olivia Collection is NOT gonna be released here in Singapore. Have you seen the packaging? It's not the most amazing packaging, but the boxes are cute! There's a few stuffs that I wanna get from this collection & since it wont be out here, a spree is needed.

I NEED TO HAVE THIS PALETTE.
I first saw this palette while checking out reviews on The Musing of A Muse. Now, you may think that it's just a boring neutral palette. But that's just perfect. Definitely safe for work. And if you're going out in the evening, just jazz it up with the darker shades! I love the array of nautral colors, a mix of mattes and shimmers. The sleek packaging is awesome too. But what's the best thing about this palette is that.. you get TWELVE full-sized shadows for less than half the price! How can you resist that?!
Realised how my recent 'wants' are mostly Urban Decays and not MACs or whatnots. I dont know why, but Urban Decay is seriously getting alot of my attention. Not that I am not liking MAC anymore or anything. but i guess it's time for something new.. I wonder how much this palette will be retailing at in Sephora. IF they bring it in..

I was at the Robinsons Expo Sale earlier today, and spot some ELF products. They had the ELF Studio Line products as well, but as usual, the prices are so marked up! It's wayyy expensive, S$21++ even after discounts if i'm not wrong? That's crazy right! Surprisingly though, many of the products were already OOS. I was swatching the Blush+Bronzer duo and the SA was like "Sorry, that's not available anymore". I turned to her and said, "It's okay. I'm not buying anyway" with my 'like-i-cared' look. They had some EDM too, still marked up even after so many sales. I bet Pixie is trying very very hard to get rid of the stocks.
Anyway, I met Hudy today to pick up my one item, first ever NARS "haul". Great thing she lives in my neighbourhood. Just hours after she mass email. Nothing exciting though. i'm at my uncle's house, blogging using his laptop.. so just wait for updates if you wanna know what i got. :)

It's like no matter what you do, what products you used (especially the one you trust the most), it just didnt turn out right?
Isnt it frustrating when you know you NEED to look good for an event but something went wrong somewhere and you just cant get it right, but then your make-up somehow looks so awesome when you're just running an errand nearby that you just dont wanna take it off?

So last Saturday was my girlfriend's birthday dinner.
And this is my attempt to recreate Sophia's Smokey Eyes. Failed, obviously. I really wanted to do a dark blue smokey so that it could match my crop blazer but i didnt have a blue that is neither dark or matte enough. So i ended using the darkest color in my Pop Beauty Teal Eyes Cake, which turns out greenish. I dont even think it's well blended. I kinda did my make-up in a rush. didnt even had time to put on fake lashes. oh heck, i tried.
and oh, if anybody noticed, i had a haircut! i would have posted more pictures, but i didnt like how the rest turns out. boo!
